In this edition of Miris Interviews, Laura Serke (Dietitian and Lactation Consultant at Louisville Hospital, USA) spoke with us about another form of empowerment. She has been working in the NICU setting for a decade and has learned, among many things, that the terminology used to discuss preterm milk matters! Instead of discussing milk as deficient for an infant, the milk analyzer helps her focus on the adaptability of living milk and empowers parents to optimize their own pumping practices.

“Targeted Lactation Support encourages and empowers parents to optimize their milk for their baby. If we notice some variability in nutrients, we reassure the parent that it’s normal and redirect our conversation to curiosity about pumping practices.
